The Convitto today

The Convitto Nazionale is a State co-educational boarding and day school, with both residential and semi-residential facilities. Our school provides students a top quality all-round education from Primary through Junior High school to High School levels.

The Convitto is a unique educational institution whose mission is to promote and provide cutting edge education for both residential and semi-residential students and guarantee our pupils a rewarding and enjoyable means of self-development. They learn the meaning of living together and service to others with the aim of preparing them to play an active role as citizens of Europe and the world.

Today the Convitto Nazionale is made up of three educational levels:

  • Primary school (5 to 10 years of age)
  • Junior high school (11 to 13 years of age)
  • High school (14 to 18 years of age):
    • Classical High School
    • Scientific High School
    • European High School

The Convitto is unique in and around Rome both for the exceptional standard of education, the variety of the curricula and the facilities it provides. With its international outlook, the cultural and academic exchange programme promoted by the Classical European High School is a particularly important part of the school’s activities.

The Convitto Nazionale V. Emanuele II, located in a building dating back to the 1930s during the urban development of the Quartiere delle Vittorie. The ample grounds, measuring 20.000 sqm., are situated between the embankment, Lungotevere Oberdan, Piazza Montegrappa and Via C. Ederle in the heart of the XVII Municipio.

The surrounding grounds include a park and play grounds for recreation sports activities.

The school facilities include a spacious, purpose-built Auditorium which has recently been thoroughly refurbished and dedicated to Pope Giovanni Paolo II on the 18th November 2006. It provides ample multi-media theatre and conference facilities for the school and the city of Rome.
