The Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II, Rome, will further develop and implement the following programme points:

Service + Outstanding Education

The Convitto Nazionale is committed to providing a wide range of support and extra-curricular services and activities coupled with cutting edge academic curricula and teaching of the highest quality designed for students who seek to discover and develop their full potential.

Within this framework the Convitto Nazionale will:

  • Provide support, in the form of grants, to deserving students in cases of economic or social need
  • Identify and participate in projects promoted by the EU or other organisations, as well as special initiatives implemented by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research (MUIR)
  • Enhance and deepen the study of history, underlining the European perspective
  • Provide and promote programmes of life-long learning and professional training for teachers and tutors, with particular emphasis on innovative methodologies and the use of multimedia technology in school teaching. Such innovations have already been implemented in part with the setting up of the European High School
  • Provide students psychological counselling services, offered to the classes by specialists from the local health authorities, with the aim of improving group dynamics in class
  • Provide students extra-curricula educational services. These include coaching, in whatever subjects are required, for weaker students allowing them to consolidate their knowledge and improve their performance. In addition, the Convitto organizes the very popular afternoon courses for students wishing to take the Cambridge Language Certificate exams, from Starters for Young Learners in Junior High School through to FCE and CAE for advanced students
  • Provide an attractive programme of extra-curricula activities such as the School Magazine, music, theatre and sports
  • Organise and publicise events marking the key moments in the students’ school careers. These include Welcoming ceremonies for the new students on entering the Convitto; Award ceremonies for successful students at the end of their course of studies with special awards for best-of-the-year students; the annual “Coming out” ball for students who have celebrated their 18th birthday in the course of the academic year.

Close collaboration with institutional bodies and public and private organizations at regional, national and international levels

The Convitto Nazionale intends to actively exploit the opportunities for independent policy-making and action granted by the new legislation governing management and administration within Italian State schools.

To this end the Convitto will:

  • Identify and promote collaboration agreements with external experts and institutional bodies
  • Implement networking agreements with other schools and educational institutions at national and international level with the aim of participating in local, national, European and international projects
  • Collaborate with the Public Administration as well as cultural, sports and recreational associations in Italy
  • Take a leading role in the organisation and implementation of projects promoted by the EU and other international and national organisations, including specific projects sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Education and Research, MUIR. To this end co-operation agreements have been drawn up with the following bodies:
    • French Embassy with the aim of enhancing French language teaching within the framework of the AICL and ESABAC projects
    • The University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Faculty of Oriental Studies in the framework of the project “Relations with China”
    • Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the aim of enhancing student exchanges throughout the EU member countries and USA (NHSMUN National High School Model United Nations)
  • Provide top-quality, multi-media venue and conference facilities for the Italian Ministry of Education and Research and other State and private organisations.

Internationalisation

The Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II intends to rapidly extend its mission at international level.

To this end the Convitto Nazionale will:

  • Participate in student exchange projects with other schools within the network of the Italian Convitti as well as other schools both in Italy and abroad
  • Reserve a quota of places, including accommodation, for students from the EU and other countries
  • Increase the number and length of student exchanges with educational institutions in the EU and other countries
  • Enhance and extend the range of activities of the Department of Modern Languages.

Quality Certification

The Convitto Nazionale is currently applying for Mod. ISO 2000 certification.
